Speaker Recognition
Laxis separates who said what in every transcript ("Speaker 1", "Speaker 2", …). You can name speakers yourself, and turn on Voice Recognition so Laxis recognizes people you've enrolled and labels them automatically.
Name a speaker
After a recording, open the transcript and click (or tap) a speaker label:
- Desktop and web: type a name or pick someone you've named before. Leave Apply to all checked to rename every line from that speaker. Uncheck it to rename only one line — useful when two people were grouped together.
- iPhone and Android: tap an underlined Speaker N label, pick a known speaker or type a new name, and tap Save.
Speaker names are saved to your account and show on all your devices.
Voice Recognition
With Voice Recognition on, Laxis recognizes enrolled voices and shows their names during the meeting (a few seconds after they speak) and when you open a meeting afterwards. It's off by default.
Where to find it:
- Desktop: Settings → Voice Recognition.
- iPhone and Android: Settings → General → Voice Recognition.
Add a voice
Turn it on
Switch on Recognize voices (on Android: Recognize speakers by voice).
Enter a name
Under Add a voice, type the person's name.
Record 10 seconds
Tap Record 10s and read the sentence on screen. Recording a few samples in different places (quiet room, meeting room, headset) improves accuracy.
The list Voices Laxis knows shows each person, how many samples they have, and which devices they were recorded on.
Laxis learns when you name speakers
With Voice Recognition on, naming a speaker after a meeting also teaches Laxis their voice, so they're labeled automatically next time. On desktop this works when you name the whole speaker (Apply to all). On the mobile apps it works for notes with a single recording.
If Voice Recognition is off, you can still name speakers — Laxis just won't learn their voices. On iPhone, Laxis asks once whether you'd like to turn it on.
Your voices on all your devices
Voices you enroll sync across your Mac, Windows PC, iPhone, and Android devices, so a voice added on your phone is recognized on your computer, and vice versa. The audio of your enrollment recordings stays on the device where you recorded it.
Remove voices or turn it off
- Remove one person: remove them from Voices Laxis knows (on desktop, confirm Remove everywhere). Their voice is deleted on every device.
- Turn off Voice Recognition: switch it off and confirm Delete and turn off. This deletes every enrolled voice on every device and can't be undone.
See Security and Privacy for how voice data is handled.
Troubleshooting
Names don't appear. Check that Voice Recognition is on and that the person is listed under Voices Laxis knows. Add another sample recorded in the same setting as your meetings.
The wrong person is named. Click the name in the transcript and pick the right person, or remove and re-add their voice with a few clean samples.
"The voice model is missing from this installation". Reinstall the desktop app to restore it.
