Voice Keyboard on Android
Laxis Keyboard is a full keyboard with a mic button. Tap the mic in any app, speak, and Laxis inserts clean, polished text.
Set it up
Open the Laxis app and tap the Keyboard tab. Follow Turn on the Laxis keyboard — a checklist that ticks itself off as you go:
Enable Laxis Keyboard
Tap Enable Laxis Keyboard. Android opens its keyboard settings (Manage keyboards / On-screen keyboard). Turn on Laxis Keyboard and confirm Android's standard notice about third-party keyboards.
Allow the microphone
Tap Allow Microphone.
Switch to Laxis Keyboard
Tap Switch to Laxis Keyboard to pick it as your keyboard. You can also switch any time with the globe key on the keyboard.
When you're done, tap Start Dictating.
Dictate
- In any app, switch to Laxis Keyboard.
- Tap the mic at the top of the keyboard. The listening panel shows your words as you speak.
- Tap ✓ to insert the text. To cancel, tap X or swipe down — nothing is inserted.
A single take can be up to 5 minutes long. Dictation is paused while Laxis is recording a meeting.
Modes
Tap the mode button on the keyboard to choose:
| Mode | What gets inserted | Plan |
|---|---|---|
| Transcribe | Exactly what you said | All plans |
| Polish (default) | Clean text: fillers removed, punctuation fixed, in your style and tone | All plans |
| Translate | Your speech, translated into your Translate to language | Premium or trial |
| Agent | Text written from your instruction, using the text around your cursor as context — "Say what you want written" | Premium or trial |
If Translate or Agent can't complete, nothing is inserted.
The keyboard menu shows the words and minutes you've dictated, your plan, and Get Premium.
Settings
In the Laxis app, open Settings → Voice Keyboard:
- Voice Keyboard Languages — select up to 5 languages to improve recognition, or leave empty for auto-detect (best for mixed-language speech). Choose the Translate to language here too.
- Polish — Enable Polish (on by default), Style (Standard or Keep spoken words), and Tone (Formal, Casual, very casual, or Excited!).
Add names and terms under Settings → General → Dictionary.
History
The Keyboard tab lists your recent dictations (up to 200, stored on your phone). Tap copy to reuse one, swipe to delete, or Clear All.
Troubleshooting
"Log in to Laxis to dictate". Open the Laxis app and sign in.
"Allow microphone access in Laxis". Open the Laxis app and allow the microphone, or allow it for Laxis in your phone's app settings.
Laxis Keyboard doesn't appear when I switch keyboards. Open the Keyboard tab in Laxis and finish the checklist. On some phones (such as Xiaomi), the keyboard picker can take a few seconds to update.
"A meeting is recording — Voice Keyboard is paused until it stops". Stop your Laxis meeting recording to dictate.
"Voice Keyboard quota exhausted". You've used this month's transcription minutes. Tap Upgrade, or wait for your minutes to reset.
